Anita Holmes is a writer, editor, book designer, and photographer specializing in landscape, fine arts, and nature photography. She is the author of numerous children’s and general interest non-fiction books, Cactus: The All-American Plant, Four Winds Press; Pierced and Pretty; The Complete Guide to Ear Piercing, Pierced Earrings, and How to Create Your Own, Lathrop, Lee, & Shepard. As an editor she has worked for several publishing companies including The Millbrook Press, Consumers Union, and Scholastic Inc. Currently she runs her own freelance editorial and photographic services business, Anita Holmes Creative.
Anita’s interest in photography began in the 1960s as an adjunct to her editorial work wherein she took photographs to accompany stories and articles, but eventually morphed into an interest in fine arts photography.
Anita’s photographs have appeared at the Rockport Community Art Center, Rockport, TX; the Winsted Health Center, Winsted, CT; The Norfolk Artisan’s Guild, Norfolk, CT; the Norfolk Library, Norfolk, CT; the Ellen Battell Stoeckel Gallery, Norfolk, CT; and the Gallery at Noble Horizons, Salisbury, CT. She is a member of the Author’s Guild, New York City; the National Arts Club, New York City; and Norfolk Artists & Friends, Norfolk, CT. Recently (June 2015) Anita participated in the Connecticut Open Studio Festival organized by the Connecticut Department of Tourism.
